Artist Statement

My work is rooted in my worldviews and experiences, and is an amalgamation of my passions in life: art, nature, my heritage and hip hop. I use painting as a meditative and transcendental practice in which I am able to resolve inner conflict and traumatic events. Through abstraction I am able to probe emotional and psychological states, while The narrative paintings I make specifically are symbolic re-imaginings of the past and present, or visions of potential for future.

In my practice i explore my identity as an american-born Filipina, which is deeply complicated by it's history of colonization. the images i create respond to the call of action against the sexism, misogyny, racism, violence and deep injustices of my current time.
